Oddblox utilizes the Pterodactyl control panel, which provides both staff and clients with an amazing and easy to use game server control platform. Among Pterodactyl’s many features, users have access to “Audit Logs”. Audit Logs are detailed logs of every action taken on your server, from crashes to subuser creation. This guide will tell you how to access the Audit Logs, and will give you some additional information about the feature.
Accessing the Audit Logs
Getting access to the Audit logs is a straight forward process that I will be outlining below, step by step. Links will be provided, and images will be added later.
- Log into the Pterodactyl control panel.
- Select the server whose logs you want to view from the server list.
- Under the “System” menu on the left side of the screen, locate the “Audit Logs” button.
- Clicking on this button will bring you to the audit log page, showing you all of the events from creation.
- Clicking on the event will expand it, showing more details.
Events Shown
The Audit logs will show very useful information, such as what user created what sub-user, what user updated the server software, and what caused the server to crash. The most useful log shown will be the red “The server has crashed” log. Clicking on this log will provide crucial information about why the server crashed, and it will include a link you can provide to the support team for troubleshooting. The Audit Logs are also great as they timestamp and record every action taken by a user. Is someone with console access trolling you while you are trying to play? Check the audit logs to see which subuser is doing it! It also provides city geolocation information for user actions, so you can check if one of your subusers got compromised!
Overall, Audit logs are an amazing feature loved by many server administration members. Keep an eye on your server and sleep soundly at night knowing that anything that happens will be recorded and timestamped!
