Let’s dive in and get started!
Downloading
After you have decided what variation you want to try (You can see a general list here), you will need to download the official JAR file for the Minecraft version you want to play on. Make sure that you double check that the website is the real one, as many malicious actors may pretend to be the official site. If you accidentally visit a malicious site, you may have downloaded a fake version of the JAR that is actually just a virus. Here are the official sites for the 3 most common softwares (Click on the name): Magma, Mohist, Banner.
Installing
Once you have downloaded the file, rename it to server.jar. You will now have to put it into your server’s game directory, see the steps below!
- Go to the Oddblox Game Panel.
- Click Manage on the server you want to reinstall.
- STOP THE SERVER
- Click on the File Manager tab, located under the Management category in the sidebar.
- Locate and delete the existing server.jar
- Upload your new server.jar
- Restart the server!
Ready to play
Your server should start installing the software you picked, but make sure to keep an eye on the console and watch for any errors. It may ask you to remove files or folders. Just repeat the steps above, but don’t reupload the server.jar, or delete the one you uploaded! Once it is done, you should be able to put your mods in the /mods
folder, your /plugins
in the plugins folder, and have fun!
